Met Elements herbeleeft Alisa Lim A Po gekoesterde gevoelens en intieme momenten van geluk. In deze serie kunstwerken vertaalt de kunstenaar die sentimenten naar tijd en plaats. Ze maakt hiervoor gebruik van een organische beeldtaal, waardoor associaties met bloei en verderf, de vergankelijkheid van schoonheid, en haar waardering voor de natuur als vanzelf ontstaan.
De werken binnen Elements kennen een gedefinieerde, organische vorm. Deze absolutie is zowel vertrekpunt als eindbestemming. In vooraf bepaalde kaders ontstaat een ruimtelijke gelaagdheid, waarin de relatie tussen kleur en vorm bepalend en van grote betekenis is. Contrast en textuur versterken elkaar en creëren verdieping, om uiteindelijk één te worden.
Lim A Po werkt voor Elements met acryl op diverse materialen, zoals linnen, papier, aluminium en messing. Door de combinatie van kleurgebruik en organische vormen straalt deze serie een vriendelijkheid uit, die associaties met de natuur oproept. Tegelijkertijd kent Elements door strakke lijnvoering en fragmentarische verbeeltenissen een grote abstractie. Het spel tussen ondergrond, textuur en licht geeft tevens een scherpere toon aan het werk. Zo creërt de kunstenaar werken die openstaan voor interpretatie en introspectie.
Abstractie, gelaagdheid en eenheid van vorm en kleur zijn ook belangrijke factoren in Lim A Po’s meest recente uitingsvorm binnen de serie Elements: de cut-outs. Deze collages zijn opgebouwd uit verschillende lagen van elementen. De schaar hanterend, werkt de kunstenaar op uitgekiende wijze met verf en linnen. In de cut-outs volgen afbraak en opbouw elkaar steeds op, totdat uiteindelijk een symbiotische samensmelting van organische vormen is ontstaan.

In Elements, Alisa Lim A Po relives cherished feelings and intimate moments of happiness. With this series of artworks, the artist translates these sentiments to time and place. She uses an organic visual language, in which associations with flourishing and decay, the transience of beauty, and her appreciation for nature arise naturally.
The artworks within the series Elements are defined by a organic shapes. For Lim A Po, this absolution of form is both a starting point as well as the final destination. In predetermined frameworks a spatial layering originates, in which the relationship between color and form is decisive and of great significance. Contrast and texture work together to create layering and depth, to become one.
In this series, Lim A Po works with acrylic on various materials, such as linen, paper, aluminum, and brass. Through its combination of colors and shapes, this series expresses a certain kindness that evokes associations with nature. At the same time, Elements has a great abstraction through its sharp lines and fragmentary imagery. The playful act between surface, texture and light gives an additional edginess to the works. The artist thus creates a body of works subject to interpretation and introspection.
Abstraction, layered structures, and unity of form and color are likewise essential factors in Lim A Po's most recent addition to Elements: the cut-outs. These collages consist of a studious layering of various elements. Using a pair of scissors, the artist meticulously works with paint and linen. In cut-outs, the processes of demolition and construction consecutively follow one another, until eventually a symbiotic fusion of organic shapes manifests itself.
